2008 - 2009 Academic Year

September 23, 2008 - BlackBoard 7.3

Regular Business: A handout was distributed regarding Dean Lindey's Information Technology's past, present,

and future plans. TLTR Grant Committee is looking for new members!

Presentation: Dr. Brian Danielson discussed what's new in BlackBoard 7.3. He covered many topics such as e-mail,

discussion board, wikis, blogs, announcements, and much more! This was a great way for professors and staff members to

have all questions answered regarding the new BlackBoard software.

New Business: The next TLTR meeting will be held on October 14th, in the Special Collections Room of Bailey Library.

Dr. Strickland will discuss the merging of CETET with TLTR.

 

October 14, 2008 - CETET

Regular Business: Updates were given on Information Technology and BlackBoard. Some concerns were expressed

concerning Discussion Board in BlackBoard. In addition, the Grant Committee is looking for new members. Members will be

contacted in the near future concerning Grant Review.

Presentation: Dr. Strickland presented on The Center of Excellence in Teaching and Educational Technology. TLTR had

recently merged with CETET, and are now using each other has a valuable source in educational technology. Dr. Strickland

discussed the new craze for campus professors, Teaching Circles and Teaching Partners. These groups are excellent methods

for professors of a common interest to meet and discuss information.

New Business: The next TLTR meeting will be on November 20th, in the Special Collections Room of Bailey Library. Bill Huber

will be presenting on "Overcoming BlackBoard Challenges".

 

November 20, 2008 - Overcoming BlackBoard Challenges

Regular Business: Updates for given by Dr. Anning regarding Information Technology and Taskforces. Nine grant requests

were submitted for The Grant Committee to evaluate.

Presentation: Bill Huber discussed many methods to overcome the many challenges we face using BlackBoard. This was a great

meeting regarding any questions and concerns for the use of BlackBoard regarding topics such as Blogs, Discussion Board,

BlackBoard running slowly, and much more!

New Business: The next meeting will be held on January 27, 2007 in 119 Field House. Dr. Kovacs will be presenting on Dartfish!

 

January 27, 2009 - Dartfish

Regular Business: Updates given by Dean Lindey, Bill Huber, and Brian Danielson regarding Information Technology, as well

as BlackBoard. In addition, TLTR is working with CETET to update website. Lastly, a new software called Media Site

was discussed and how it can be beneficial in the classroom!

Presentation: Dr. Kovacs and Dr. Ogoreuc presented "Dartfish". This presentation demonstrated underwater analysis of

human motion. The project was funded by TLTR grant money. Several methods to incorporating the software into all

classes were discussed.

New Business: The next meeting will be held on February 24th, in the CETET Conference Room of Bailey Library.

 

February 24, 2009 - TLTR Update

Regular Business: Update on Information Technology and Task Forces was given by Dr. Jon Anning. BlackBoard update was

supplied by Bill Huber. New software is being researched for 2010 when BlackBoard contract will expire.

Presentation: Keri Smiell and Renee Gerard presented on IT Academy. IT Academy is a great learning tool supplied by Microsoft

that will allow professors, students, and members of SRU to enhance their learning in Microsoft programs. Secondly, Dr. Jon

Anning spoke on the new focus of TLTR and the resources that are currently available. Verbal requests and opinions were taken

in order to format TLTR to more effectively benefit all of its members!

New Business: The next meeting will be held on March 17th, in the CETET Conference Room of Bailey Library. Come hungry,

lunch will be provided.

 

March 17, 2009 - Media Site

Regular Business: There were no updates in Information Technology. Dr. Anning is looking for anyone interested in being a

Convener for next year for TLTR. Brian Danielson discussed the research and taskforce committee being performed in order to

determine if BlackBoard will continue to be a Learning Management System of choice.

Presentation: Brian Danielson presented Media Site. This is a Video Capture Streaming Device that will publish all presentations

to the web. Media site is used by recording video/lecture (live or in advance) and the box will sync your lecture with any power

power slides or media device. This gives students the ability to view the professor, match up lecture with notes, review information,

and much more. This is a great technology that is now being used at SRU.

New Business: The next TLTR meeting will be held on Thursday, April 16th in the CETET Conference Room. The meeting will be

during Common Hour and lunch will be provided.

 

April 16, 2009 - Citrix

Regular Business: Jon Anning reported Mr. Ananou's information about the current status of BlackBoard, in which a new Learning

Management System of BlackBoard is scheduled to be enhanced during the summer as a Learning Content Management System

(LCMS). The direction of TLTR for the upcoming year will focus on task forces to explore better ways of incorporating technology

in the classroom. Lastly, anyone interested in becoming a co-convener should speak with Jon Anning.

Presentation: Jacob Skiba presented information regarding the SRU Citrix Server. This is a client/server system that allows remote

delivery of Windows based applications, located on a central serve, to clients regardless of location or operating system. Additional

information on obtaining and using Citrix, and TLTR's role in Citrix was also discussed.

New Business: The TLTR calendar will be determined in Fall of 2009, in which TLTR plans to have a Panel of Technology

Representatives discuss technology updates and projects for summer and into Fall of 2009. The meeting will be held in the CFIT

Conference Room of Bailey Library.
