The following conditions must be met in order to apply for admission
to any College of Education program.

Accumulate a minimum of 48 credits
·
QPA = 2.8 or better (must be 3.0 by
graduation)
·
Successful completion of 6 credits college
level math (113 or higher)
·
Successful completion of 6 credits of
English (1 composition & 1 literature)
·
Successful completion of the School Based
Observations packet (completed during SEFE 200)
·
20
contact hours with school-age children in a diverse setting
documented and approved by advisor. You are not required to, but if you'd like to do this at Pittsburgh Public Schools, use one of these forms (pdf) (word).

FBI clearances dated prior to December 1, 2008 a copy of the clearance is needed; after December 1, 2008 a copy of the verification letter from your department must be attached.

In addition, you will want to obtain a copy of the Teacher
Education Policy Manual and a copy of the requirements for your area
of certification.
You must submit a completed admission application, signed by a faculty
advisor, during the semester of your 48th credit. November 1 and
April 1 are admission application deadlines each year. The application
is available in McKay Education Building.
*Note: A
preparation course is offered at Butler County Community College.
Also, additional PRAXIS tests will be required for your area of
certification before student teaching.
