A week after summer vacation began for Sharon City
School District, SRU Math/Science Field Students
conducted a math tutoring program open to any child attending one of the three Sharon
elementary PDSs. Those who attended came bright-eyed
and ready to learn each morning. This program was
held in the library at Case Avenue PDS, where a
celebration, complete with cake and other snacks,
marked the completion of this learning experience.

The Pine-Richland After School Math Program
Celebration took place on April 27, 2006 in
Pine-Richland High School. The Math/Science Field
Students and Teacher Candidates that worked with
this program presented Certificates of Achievement
to the students that participated in this tutoring
program.

Sharon PDS recognized its Field Students and Teacher
Candidates on May 8, 2006 at the library in Case
Avenue Elementary. The SRU students were very
excited to have worked with the teachers and
students in the Sharon PDS school. There were also
some tears shed by the Teacher Candidates who were
excited to be teachers now, but sad to leave their
current classrooms.

At Richland PDS on May 11, 2006, the Pine-Richland
Field Students were recognized for their
accomplishments in the PDS program. Each student
shared some experiences they have had in the
classrooms in the three Pine-Richland elementary
schools. The Field Students expressed how much they
have enjoyed their experience in this PDS.

On May 12, 2006, the Slippery Rock PDS Field
Students gathered at Slippery Rock Area Elementary
for a breakfast that recognized their
accomplishments in the PDS. Each Field Student took
a moment to share something that they have learned
in their PDS teaching experience. Overall, they
really learned a lot working in this district and
are excited to return to the three PDS elementary
schools to do their student teaching.
