Women's Studies Activities

For many people, membership on the Women's Studies Committee is the starting point for forays into related areas of interest. Workshops, conferences, special events and reading groups are organized in conjunction with other campus organizations. In the last few years members of the Women's Studies Committee have participated in curriculum transformation reading groups whose focus has been on expanding the curriculum to include a more balanced representation of women and people who are marginalized. Many members of the committee are part of a monthly reading group. Also, the committee works cooperatively with various departments, such as history, theatre and music, to plan and prepare for Women's History Month. A mentoring dinner for women students is sponsored each spring by the committee. The Women's Studies Program has sponsored two statewide conferences related to gender issues and concerns.
