The Slippery Rock Sport Management Department provides many opportunites for it's students to be exposed to several different aspects of the sport industry. This is accomplished not only in the classroom, but through being able to attend various conferences, trips overseas, and volunteer work.
At the end of the fall semester of 2008 students the Sport Law class put on a "Mock Trial." This activity allows the students to demonstrate their comprehension of the material presented during the semester. The mock trial experience involves students representing opposing sides in a semi-fictitious legal case. They willed question witnesses, make opening and closing arguments and worked through all aspects of their case. The mock trial, allows students to engage in public speaking, learn to make sound arguments, learn legal procedure through “hands-on” experience, “think on their feet”, make difficult decisions, and interact with otherstudents.
