The Symposium for Research and
Scholarship at Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania
provides a forum where the scholarly initiatives/accomplishments of
students, faculty, staff, and alumni are shared and celebrated.
Both the Journal of Scholarly Endeavor and the Symposium
for Research and Scholarship highlight significant works from
across campus involving student/faculty collaborations, as well as
individual/joint research projects. Over the years, there have been
numerous benefits realized from this initiative. In addition to
creating a collegial atmosphere that allows scholars (at all
levels) to gain important feedback on their research endeavors, the
Symposium and Journal have also fostered a sense of
appreciation for the scholarly efforts undertaken by SRU students,
faculty, staff and alumni from many diverse disciplines.
Furthermore, this initiative has also evolved into an excellent
vehicle to assist in educating students and junior scholars on a
critical stage of the research cycle, namely, the "information
dissemination stage." Chairpersons of the Symposium are Dr.
Theresa Wadja of the School of Business and Mary Ann King, Director
for Academic Resources.
