Katherine Mickle currently teaches all levels of Photography in the Art Department at Slippery Rock University, where she also directs the Martha Gault Art Gallery. Prof. Mickle currently serves as a member of the President’s Commission for the Status of Women, being a member of the Public Relations subcommittee. She was elected to the university-wide Professional Development & Grievance committees. She represents the department at the college-wide Assessment committee. She’s also involved with the Women’s Studies committee and the Harry M. Warner Film Institute, being a member of the Screening subcommittee for the annual Harry M. Warner Festival of Short Film & Video. Katherine continues to be a part of departmental committees and is the current advisor to the student-run Martha Gault Art Society (Art Club). She exhibits regionally and nationally. She is a member of the College Art Association and the Society for Photographic Education. Katherine is also a member of the Silver Eye Center for Photography and the Associated Artists of Pittsburgh. Katherine received her MFA in Photography from Ohio University. She holds her MA with a major in Photography and minor in Painting from Stephen F. Austin University in Nacgodoches, Texas. Katherine received her BFA from SRU with a second major in Spanish. For one semester, she studied overseas at the Universidad de Sevilla, Spain.
