Welcome
to the Communication Department. I invite you to explore
the departments web site and look at the various
programs and facilities we have to offer you. As one
of the largest departments at the university, we pride
ourselves in providing our students with lifelong
learning opportunities, as well as a diverse staff
of faculty.
Almost all of our faculty have doctoral degrees in
various areas including: public relations, radio and
television production, journalism, new technologies,
communication studies, instructional technology and
rhetoric to name just a few. One of the many strengths
of the university is that we do not rely on graduate
assistants to teach any of the courses offered; all
of our classes are taught by qualified faculty.
When you enroll in the communication program, you
are given an advisor who helps you navigate a thorough
course of study from liberal studies to classes needed
to fulfill the requirements in your major program
area. All students begin their course of study in
communication with basic concepts and progress to
the more advanced course areas.
We offer more than 50 different courses from which
your program can be built. Although many of the courses
are of a hands-on skill nature, our faculty are also
committed to helping you develop your intellectual,
creative and professional expertise.
Our graduates possess valuable skills in both the
human as well as the technological areas of communication.
