As a field of study, communication offers the opportunity to develop knowledge and skills that increase our capacity to define ourselves and function effectively in every aspect of our lives.

Studying communication also offers the opportunity to prepare for a wide array of careers in what some have described as "The Communication Age." Communication graduates create messages and assist and advise others in the creation of messages using a variety of media: oral, written, graphic, video, audio, and multi-media in the context of virtually every field of endeavor.
