Lynda Barry -Lynda Barry is an artist, novelist, and playwright whose work appears, as she says, "all over tarnation." Her syndicated alternative comic strip "Ernie Pooks Comeek" is nationally known. She has published several illustrated novels, including The Good Times Are Killing Me, which won the Washington State Governor's Award and One Hundred Demons. Her critically acclaimed second novel, Cruddy, was described by the New York Times as "a work of terrible beauty."

"One Hundred Demons is . . . a work of art as well as literature, and the pages are gorgeous washes of glowing watercolor. `I really wanted to use every possible square inch,' she says. 'I wanted it to look like a Fruit Loops and sparkle paint!'  Although Barry's drawings are crude, somehow they feel more powerfully real than photographs. 'People say I can't draw,' Barry remarks. 'That's something I hear all the time. It's not that it hurts my feelings, but if I can't draw, then what am I doing?' ~ Lev Grosman, Time Magazine
