Application Information
Are you eligible?
You may apply to the Honors Program anytime after you have been accepted to SRU. Academic requirements for incoming first-year students are as follows:
- 1100 SAT score or higher (verbal and mathematics), or
- 25 ACT score or higher, or
- 3.8 GPA or higher, or
- Top 10% of high school graduating class

- A one to two page essay discussing why you want to join the Honors Program and what you hope to gain from the experience.
There is not a specific deadline for admission to the Honors Program. All applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis. Additionally, we also encourage current college students to apply to the Honors Program; however, keep in mind that you should do so in a timely manner in order to complete all requirements of the Program.

Scholarship Application Information
Each year, Slippery Rock University offers twenty Honors Program scholarships to incoming, full-time, SRU students, who have been accepted to the Honors Program. These scholarships are $6,000, four-year scholarships, payable in $1,500 annual increments based on successfully meeting award criteria. Though the majority of the Honors Program scholarships are awarded to incoming freshmen who have been accepted into the Honors Program, scholarships may be awarded to exceptional, Honors Program transfer students. Award decisions are made by the Honors Program Director following guidelines established below and reviewed by the Honors Advisory Board.
- Academic Criteria
- SAT scores of 1200 (math + reading) or higher and/or top ten percent of high school graduating class

- A resume that includes your academic and community service experience
- Deadline Information
- Honors Program Scholarship applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until all scholarships have been awarded for the 2008-2009 school year.
- Therefore, it is in your best interest to apply before or around the beginning of the calendar year (January) for your best chance to receive a scholarship.
Honors Housing
Selecting a place to live is an exciting part of making plans for ling away from home for many students. Students can request a specific residence hall, whether to live in a traditional residence hall or one of the new suite-style options, even a particular roommate! SRU students can also request to live in a community with other students of the same major or interest. These communities are called Residential Common / Residential Interest floors.
A residential Honors community is available to any incoming or current Honors student interested in living with other Honors students.
