Student Employees Honored at 2009 Convocation

Greetings.

The faculty and staff of Bailey Library have a very enjoyable springtime tradition, which is to honor the library student employees recognized for their scholastic achievements at the SRU Academic Honors Convocation. This year’s Convocation took place on Sunday, April 5, 2009.

While fall and spring commencement are great academic festivals and times of celebration, we think that the Honors Convocation is an extra special event. The library student employees featured on this web page have earned the highest grades in their class years compared to all other students. Achieving academic distinction is hard enough under any circumstances, but gaining that accolade while working at a job in the library deserves special applause.

It is not an exaggeration to say that we could not function without the support of our student employees, who work in various capacities to make sure many basic services are available for our patrons. Come into the library any day and you will see that we are busy. The face you see at a service desk or helping to keep the operations of our offices running smoothly is most likely that of a student assistant. All of our student employees are valuable and important, and among them we want to focus a spotlight on our most successful student scholars.

We extend to our honored student employees our congratulations and our best wishes for continued success in their studies and in their chosen careers.
