Getting Institutional Review Board (IRB) approval
The primary responsibility of the IRB is to protect the rights and welfare of the human participants in research investigations conducted by the University and by agents of the University. This protective role of the IRB has three components:
- To assure institutional compliance with State and Federal Policy
- To review proposed research involving human participants conducted, and
- To conduct ongoing reviews of approved research investigations.
ALL projects presented at the Symposium in which
human subjects participate require IRB approval. This includes surveys,
even if they aer "anonymous." There is an expedited IRB approval
process for most Symposium projects. Refer to the IRB website for complete instructions.
