Dr. Xianfeng Chen, the President of Chinese Culture Association (CCA) and Associate Director of Modern China Center (MCC) of Slippery Rock University, announced the opening of the event that was followed by the welcome talk by Dean Susan Hannam. The first part of the event was the impressive performance of Lion Dance and Kung Fu demonstration presented by Rothrock's Kung Fu & Tai Chi Academy. After the performances, Chinese dinner was served at Newman Center. About 150 people attended the celebration.
