Dr. Sue Shuttleworth

Dr. Sue Shuttleworth, EdD, MT-BC, FAMI, is the Coordinator of Music Therapy. Dr. Shuttleworth received a Doctorate of Education in Health Care Education from Nova Southeastern University, FL; a Master’s Degree in Music Therapy from Florida State University; and a Bachelor’s of Science in Music Education from Morehead State University, KY. She is Board Certified in Music Therapy with the Certification Board of Music Therapists. She is also a Fellow of the Association for Music and Imagery, having completed three levels of training in the Bonny Method of Guided Imagery and Music. Her clinical experience includes work with children with developmental

disabilities, children with multiple disabilities, children and youth with emotional and behavioral disorders, adults and older adults with mental illness, and adults in a forensic setting. Her applied dissertation research was entitled, Development and Pilot Testing of an Experiential Learning Formative Assessment Instrument for Undergraduate Music Therapy Clinical Students. Dr. shuttleworth is an active member of both the American Music Therapy Association and the AMTA Mid-Atlantic Regional Association. She is currently a member of the national Academic Program Approval Committee that involves meeting with educators across the nation, reviewing and approving new undergraduate and graduate music therapy degree programs, and providing input on music therapy education and training standards.
