Music degree programs at SRU are designed to appeal to the interests and career goals of contemporary students. All programs are in accordance with the specifications of and have received accreditation from the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM). The music faculty is comprised of the finest performing artists and master teachers in the area. Many factors, including a low student-to-faculty ratio, modern technologies, numerous ensemble opportunities, and beautiful facilities for study and practice, blend to create a challenging and rewarding learning environment.

Degree Programs

Bachelor of Music in Music Education

Prepares excellent musicians who are capable of teaching instrumental, vocal, and general music (K-12) in public or private schools.

 

Bachelor of Music in Music Therapy

Majors look forward to careers in spcial education, nursing homes, psuchiatric treatment centers, correctional facilities, rehabilitation centers for the physically handicapped, and in private practice.

 

Bachelor of Music in Performance

Provides an excellent background for students wishing to persue graduate studies in music and performance.

 

Bachelor of Arts with a Major in Music

Prepares students for careers in music merchandising, church music, private teaching, and the television/radio industry.

 

Dual Certification/Dual Major

Students can obtain dual certification or majors in:

Music Education and Music Therapy
Music Education and Performance
Music Therapy and Performance

 

Music Minor

The music minor program requires completion of 25 credits and is open to all undergraduate degree-seeking students at SRU.
