Master of Education in EE - Online and On Campus
M.S. in Park and Resource Management- Specialization in EE/Interpretation

Slippery Rock's Master of Education degree in Environmental Education is designed specifically for the classroom teacher who wants to be fully prepared to address state and national requirements for environmental education in their lessons and to assist their school district in meeting these requirements or for students working in environmental centers who wish to design programs and experiences for students and teachers. The on campus MS program in park and resource management offers an EE/Interpretation option for students working with educational programs in parks and other outdoor recreation areas.

Curriculum

Because environmental education is frequently integrated into the curriculum, rather than addressed as a separate subject, the program helps students develop those competencies while increasing their ecology and natural history skills.

Thesis and Internships

Graduate study in environmental education is available to teachers as well as to those who desire a non-classroom oriented program of studies. Students in the M.Ed. Program, who possess a teaching certificate in Pennsylvania may also acquire a K-12 Environmental Education Certificate.

Careers

Individuals without teaching credentials may enroll in either the Master of Science in Parks and Recreation program and orient their studies to environmental education or in the Master of Education in Environmental Education Program depending upon their career goals. Both programs provide students with a flexible program that can help them meet their career goals, whether they involve changing to a career, or providing advanced study, in environmental education.
