Question?

WHAT IS THE EXPECTED COMPLETION TIME FOR THE MS-PRM PROGRAM?

Answer!

The M.S. in Park and Resource Management program consists of 24 semester hours of courses plus a 6 semester hour thesis, for a total of 30 semester hours. Two program courses will be offered online each semester, thereby allowing students to complete course work in four semesters. Courses in the MS-PRM program are taught using the Slippery Rock University virtual classroom and online communication system.

Question?

WITHOUT BEING IN A TRADITIONAL CLASSROOM ENVIRONMENT, WHAT KIND OF ACADEMIC INTERACTION CAN I EXPECT?

Answer! The MS-PRM program at Slippery Rock University emphasizes faculty-student contact. You will maintain contact with your instructors by mail, telephone, and/or computer communication. You will receive detailed guidance and analytical comments on each of your required assignments. Additionally, you will meet and have interaction with fellow graduate students in the program through the communication tools built into each class.
Question?

DO I HAVE TO GO TO A SPECIAL LOCATION TO COMPLETE COURSE WORK?

Answer! All course work may be accessed and completed using any internet (World Wide Web) connection device (e.g., WebTV, personal computer, etc.). Individual access to courses and course work is gained by utilizing one's user name and password, both of which are assigned upon registration. This security measure ensures that only the instructor can access the student's work.
Question? DOES THIS PROGRAM REQUIRE A THESIS?
Answer!

Students have the option of completing a 6 credit-hour thesis or participating in a 6 credit-hour internship.. Each student selecting the thesis option will be individually advised when choosing a research topic and emphasis will be placed on producing professionally-relevant work to be published and/or presented at a professional conference as appropriate for individuals.

Question? ARE TUITION COSTS HIGH FOR OUT-OF-STATE STUDENTS?
Answer!

Because the M.S. Online Park Resource Management program is offered via the Web, the tuition rate for program participants is the in-state tuition rate plus two percent, making the program cost-effective as well as rewarding.
