The Park and Resource Management program has been designed to provide students with the knowledge, skills and abilities to function as park and resource management professionals. The broad-based program provides detailed study in natural history and ecology, natural systems management, cultural resource management and visitor services management. Coursework focused on the administrative, maintenance and planning and design aspects of park management is also featured.

Curriculum

Students have the opportunity to strengthen their expertise in four areas of concentration--Park and Open Space Planning, Park Law Enforcement (NPS-Seasonal LE Training Program), Environmental Education and Interpretation, or Outdoor Leadership. There are further opportunities to gain certification in outdoor leadership (Wilderness Education Association National Standard Program for Outdoor Leadership), wildfire fighter, search and rescue and a variety of other skill areas.

Many students elect to intern with the National Park Service, Pennsylvania and Arkansas State Parks, US Army Corps of Engineers, Bureau of Land Management, US Forest Service and a host of others. Our faculty will help students develop the skills, knowledge, and field experience to meet the challenges of working in the field of park and resource management.
