The Master of Science Park and Resource Management degree program has been designed to provide students with advanced instruction while contributing to their knowledge base as future park and resource management professionals. The flexible program provides an opportunity to specialize based on individual interests. The program offers several courses including ecology, planning, design, current issues, and research methods.


Curriculum

Students have the opportunity to select a course of study that is individualized and designed with the rigor and academic excellence mandated by Slippery Rock University. Students are encouraged to participate in research and other scholarly activity and are considered tomorrow's leaders by the faculty and University.

Thesis and Internships

Students may participate in a six credit hour internship where they work 40 hours per week for six weeks in a private or public agency. Students also have the opportunity to perform research and analyses while enrolled in the thesis option within the program.

Career opportunities include Park Ranger, Park Manager or Superintendent, Outdoor Recreation or Park Planner, Resource Management Specialist, Park Interpreter or Environmental Educator, and a host of related professional positions.
