Master of Science in Sustainable Systems (MS3)-
Our MS3 program in sustainable systems at Slippery Rock University was established in 1990 and charged with preparing graduate students to better face pressing environmental and social challenges using principles of sustainability as an underlying framework for action. Students study and practice sustainability through an integration of natural resource management, agroecology, and built environments. Particular emphasis is given to the design and management of productive systems that reflect and support the diversity and resilience of natural ecosystems. The program embraces the human element in the landscape, searching for sustainable ways to satisfy food, energy, shelter and other material and non-material human needs..

Curriculum

To achieve our program goals, students take interdisciplinary coursework as the professional core of the program with courses in agroecology, natural resource management, and built environment.
