Practicums and Internships

All Therapeutic Recreation students are required to complete at least one practicum and a final internship experience. The practicum is a 120-hour structured experience in the TR field. An internship is a 12-15 week structured experience supervised by a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS).

The TR program has affiliation agreements with a variety of institutions in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Maryland, and throughout the United States. Students can select from a range of inpatient, outpatient, and/or community agencies providing TR services to individuals with physical, cognitive, mental, emotional, and/or social needs. All students are supervised by an agency CTRS and a faculty CTRS.
