Welcome to the
Motion Measurement & Analysis Lab
At the Graduate School of Physical Therapy

Overview of Lab

The Motion Analysis Lab was designed for flexibility:

40’ x 40’ area – large enough for most applications

High ceiling – high enough for throwing and jumping applications

“Portable” equipment – lab space can be configured in almost any layout

  Motion measurement & analysis system

  Force plates

  Electromyography system

Raised access flooring - cables can be safely out of the way

Separate analysis rooms – out of the way of data collection areas

What can be measured & analyzed in the lab:

    • Human movement

  Body positioning (kinematics)

  Foot/contact forces (kinetics)

  Muscle activity (electromyography)

    • Animal or inanimate movement

    • Comparison of normal & abnormal movement

    • Accurate measurement of static positions/postures

Some suggested uses of the lab:

Teaching – undergraduate & graduate

Research – faculty, graduate & undergraduate

Therapy – evaluation & treatment of patients/clients
