
Regis Turocy, DHCE, PT, ECS
Biosketch
Dr. Turocy received his bachelor of science degree from West Virginia University in 1970, his certificate in physical therapy from the University of Pittsburgh in 1971, a Master of Science degree in Orthopedic Physical Therapy from the University of Pittsburgh in 1983, a Master of Arts in Health Care Ethics in 1996, and his Doctorate in Health Care Ethics in 2000. Dr. Turocy is a board certified specialist in Clinical Electrophysiology, and wound management, and is licensed in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Upon graduating from physical therapy school, Dr. Turocy was commissioned as an officer in the United States Navy Medical Service Corps. His duty stations included the Naval Hospitals at Great Lakes, Illinois; Yokosuka, Japan; Oakland, California; and Bethesda, Maryland. Prior to his retirement in 1991, after 20 years of service, he was promoted to the rank of Captain(Colonel), was Chief of the PT/OT Department at the National Naval Medical Center, Bethesda, served as Specialty Advisor for Physical Therapy to the Surgeon General, and was a consultant to the White House where he had the honor of treating President Bush over a two year period. His military honors include Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, Meritorious Unit Ribbon, Navy/Marine Overseas Ribbon, and National Defence Medal.Dr. Turocy joined the faculty in the Graduate School of Physical Therapy in August 2002. Presently he teaches in the area of musculoskeletal pathology and treatment, clinical electrophysiology, basic physical therapy procedures, and alternative approaches to health care. His research is primarily qualitative with an emphasis 9in health care ethics. Topics of special interest are in the areas of ethics of care, spirituality in health care, and patient responses to alternative health care approaches.
