Miller Auditorium
A proscenium theatre constructed in 1960, Miller Auditorium is the only facility of
its kind on campus. It is a multi-purpose space that is heavily booked by a variety of
users throughout the Universitys academic year. The Miller stage is 330 deep and 700 wide
with a 130 high by 450 wide proscenium. Seating is continental accommodating 892 people. For more

The scene shop in Miller Auditorium is a well equipped 1540 square foot room that opens directly onto the stage.
Access to the stage is through two large sliding doors opening upstage center. The shop is equipped with modern
woodworking tools including a 10 Delta table saw, 16 Rockwell radial arm saw, 12 Dewalt compound miter saw,
Delta band saw, and a full compliment of cordless drills and hand held tools. The Theatre Department owns a Lincoln
MIG welder and does use steel scenery construction as called for.
design studio
Miller Auditorium has an 800 square foot design classroom used for teaching classes and for
student design projects. The design room has 12 adjustable drafting tables with stools, a
conference table for showing work, a seating area for class meetings, and a cable television
with vcr for class use. The Design Studio is well lit by the wall of windows overlooking the campus.
costume shop
The Costume shop is a well-equipped room with natural lighting used for teaching
costuming classes and for creating costumes for theatre productions. It contains
professional standard sewing machines, pressing equipment and dress forms including half-scale
forms for the teaching of patterning and draping. An industrial upholstery sewing machine is used for
costumes and props. A considerable inventory of costumes is partially housed in the costume shop as
well as fabric storage, hats, accessories and makeup equipment. A dedicated computer, digitizer pad
and printer are used by the faculty and students for the recording and manipulation of antique garment patterns.
