Rebecca Morrice - Ms. Morrice is an assistant professor in the Theatre
Department at Slippery Rock University. She received her B.A. in the History
of Architecture & Art from the University of Illinois, Chicago in 1993 and her
M.F.A. in Costume Design from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign in 1996.
Her master's thesis was the costume research and design for Illinois Repertory Theatre's
production of Anton Chekov's Uncle Vanya. Following the completion of her M.F.A.,
Ms. Morrice worked as the costume craftsperson, dyeing fabric, making masks, jewelry,
shoes, and hats for productions at Center Stage in Baltimore and for three consecutive
summers at Hope Summer Repertory Theatre in Michigan and American Players Theatre in Wisconsin.
Recent areas of interest include researching computer technology and its application in a
theatre costume shop, preservation and reconstruction of antique clothing; and environmentally-conscious
alternatives to traditional theatre practices.
